You know that Epic's Fortnite: Battle Royale has taken over the world, the past couple of months unless you've been living in a 1:1 brick room. The sport has acquired players to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds in an incredibly rapid pace, once an equal, but the student has become the master. Past that people are currently playing Fortnite than any other shooter available on the industry from Call of Duty to CS. It is an absolute monster.
Epic discovered itself in a special position as it stood and watched PUBG blow up until its eyes Unreal. Fortnite was developed as a build-focused defense match for numerous years (sources tell me that the game was in the works for almost a decade), but Epic's flexibility allowed it to experimentation with its own spin on a Battle Royale style. Make a map full of objects, use the controls and mechanics of the Fortnite, and voila, you've got your personal BR name on the market as the genre is really starting to heat up. This has upset PUBG to no conclusion, but you can not copyright a genre, and Epic happened to be in the perfect place at the right time with the right engine to work with.
This may sound minor, but I genuinely believe that a large part of Fortnite's achievement is due to its cartoony, nearly Pixar-ish aesthetic. Not that PUBG is a game, but it does blend in with a landscape of other realism-based shooters. And owing to its cartoony character, Fortnite has managed to go fully with inventive skins and possibly even weapons. The aesthetic almost dictates the gameplay as the game is based around people quickly assembling walls and towers but not here.
Outside of PUBG and Fortnite, no one even seems near releasing a Battle Royale game at this level, because nobody understood just how popular this genre would become until a couple of months ago. A few other titles might attempt to spin BR manners as time goes on (I expect Call of Duty may try out a smaller scale version of one this autumn ), but Fortnite continues to be months competing only with PUBG, that has helped both matches grow rapidly. I am hearing talk that powerhouses like Blizzard are"conscious" of BR's popularity and may be creating their own variant, but how long will Fortnite get to rule this roost? It seems poised to be the League of Legends of the BR genre, second to arrive, possibly, but the ultimate winner able to take on all newcomers.
Part of the reason Fortnite has been such a victory, and is is because Epic is damn fast when it comes to every facet of the game's development. Fortnite has some thing for everybody, for the most part. Matches are short and quick unless you have made it all the way to the end, and it's easy whenever you desire to fall in for some. The squad system lets you play solo, having a group, or with a friend, based on who and matchmaking is an absolute breeze compared to the majority of games in the genre. It's also accessible to almost any degree of players. If you are good at hiding and running, you can make it to the top 20 easily, a feeling of achievement if you're not a killer.
